Events in and around Huon Valley

As the seasons change, so does the Huon Valley. This gorgeous region of Tasmania, Australia boasts some of the most beautiful and diverse landscapes in the country, attracting visitors from all over the world. Whether you're a local resident or a traveler passing through, the Huon Valley has something to offer all year round. Here are just a few of the exciting seasonal events to look forward to:

Spring:

As the temperatures start to rise and the flowers start to bloom, the Huon Valley comes alive with color and vitality. In the springtime, locals and visitors alike gather for the Blossom Festival in late September/early October. This celebration of all things spring features live music, food and wine tastings, and plenty of family-friendly activities. Just a short drive away is the Cygnet Folk Festival, which takes place in early January. This three-day event showcases the best of traditional and contemporary folk music from around the world, as well as local arts and crafts.

Summer:

Summer in the Huon Valley is all about outdoor adventures and seaside relaxation. The Huon Show in late January is a classic country fair complete with livestock displays, carnival rides, and craft markets. The Taste of the Huon Festival in early March is a must-visit for foodies, featuring fresh local produce and wine from over 70 vendors. And, of course, there are the beaches: Dover Beach and Alonnah Beach are popular spots for swimming, sunbathing, and picnicking.

Autumn:

In the fall, the Huon Valley takes on a different character - the leaves start to turn golden, and the air grows crisp. There's no better time to explore the local wineries and boutique vineyards, many of which offer seasonal tastings and tours. The Huon Valley Mid-Winter Festival in late July is a unique celebration of pagan tradition, featuring wassail rituals, bonfires, and plenty of cider. And don't forget about the Huon Agricultural Show in November - a chance to stock up on local produce and artisanal goods.

Winter:

Winter in the Huon Valley can be chilly, but it's also quiet and magical. The Huon Valley Winter Feast in June is an indulgent evening of feasting on local fare cooked over open fires, while a parade of lanterns and performers provide entertainment. The Festival of Voices in July brings together choirs and singers from across Tasmania and beyond for a week of workshops, concerts, and impromptu street performances. And, of course, the Huon Valley is a great place to get some skiing or snowshoeing in, with the nearby Mount Wellington offering stunning panoramic views of the region.
